Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

I grew up in Colorado and have always been inspired by nature.  Because ceramics couldn't be more grounded in naturally occurring materials, it keeps me, as an artist, grounded (if that makes sense).

Who are your biggest influences?

Honestly, my biggest influences are the people that encouraged me to be creative.  My parents, my former art teachers, etc.  I tend to get most of my ideas from nature, interior design, and architecture.

What is the hardest part of your creation process?

The patience that ceramics requires.  Waiting 24+ hours to open a kiln is torture!

What's your favorite item that you've created, and why?

I'm really proud of our slow feeder.  It took almost a year of iteration.  I had to learn how to use CAD software, print out many versions on a 3D printer, and then figure out how to make a slipcast mold system from the model.

What do you love most about Arvada or Colorado in general?

I grew up in Arvada and went to St. Anne's School for elementary (right in Olde Town!). I love the sense of community that Arvada provides, plus the miles of trails available to explore nature.

What is a fun fact about yourself that others may not expect?

I used to be a destination wedding filmmaker and have filmed on every continent except Antarctica!

Anything special you'd like to share?

My husband and I bought petware pottery in 2024 (after I left the wedding video world).  The company has been around for 30 years and was started in Colorado.  It had moved to the midwest over time, and we were super excited to bring it back to the state we love!

We’re so excited to see all the goodies so soon! Catch Petware Pottery in Olde Town Arvada this October 17th & 18th!
