Where are you from & how does that affect your work? I'm originally from Minnesota, and I also lived in Colorado and San Francisco before moving to Los Angeles - where wellness, creativity, and conscious living are woven into everyday life. Living in all these places fostered a deep connection with nature, inspiring me to create skincare that feels simple, effective, and approachable. Life moves quickly now, so I design products and rituals that encourage people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and care for their skin without overwhelm.

What is your biggest influence? Nature is my greatest inspiration. I'm constantly inspired by plants, botanicals, and the way simple ingredients can support both skin health and emotional well-being. I'm also influenced by my own journey as a mother and entrepreneur, which has taught me the importance of creating products that are gentle, trustworthy, and truly fit into real life.

What is the hardest part of the creation process?

The hardest part is editing. I love discovering new ingredients and ideas, but I'm committed to keeping my formulas intentional and uncomplicated. Every ingredient must earn its place, which means a lot of testing, refining, and patience before a product is ready to share.

What's your favorite item that you've created, and why?

My favorite product is our Clarity Adaptogen Micellar Toner. It embodies everything I love about skincare—simplicity, effectiveness, and mindfulness. Formulated with neroli hydrosol, adaptogenic mushrooms, and gentle botanical cleansers, it refreshes the skin while creating a small moment of calm in your day. I love that it serves multiple purposes: cleansing, toning, and supporting the skin barrier, all in one beautiful step. It's the product that feels most uniquely "Tolly's" to me.

What do you love most about Santa Barbara? I love Santa Barbara's balance of natural beauty and relaxed energy. The ocean, mountains, and incredible sense of community make it feel both inspiring and grounding. Every visit reminds me to slow down and appreciate the beauty in all things.

What is a fun fact about yourself that others may not expect?

Many people are surprised to learn that before creating skincare products, I worked as an associate producer in live television! Also, I'm usually testing new formulas while packing school lunches and helping with homework—Tolly's was built alongside motherhood.
