Fairs are an amazing way to connect with new audiences, grow your following, and boost sales—but how do you turn casual browsers into loyal customers? Let’s dive in.

Step 1: Spread the Word

First things first—people need to know you’ll be there! While fair organizers (like us!) handle much of the advertising, your personal promotion is just as important. When you share your upcoming events with your followers, you’re not only keeping your current fans engaged—you’re expanding your reach.

Imagine 100+ artisans all promoting the same event. That collective buzz creates excitement and draws in even more shoppers! So share your event link, post a behind-the-scenes prep shot, or tease a new product that will debut at the fair. Every bit of promotion counts.

Step 2: Create a Booth That Draws Them In

Once shoppers are at the fair, the next step is to grab their attention. With so many booths to explore, your display is your first (and sometimes only) chance to stand out.

Your booth should reflect your brand, be well-lit, and feel inviting. Think of it as your mini storefront—clear signage, thoughtful layout, and cohesive design go a long way in pulling people in.

Step 3: Invite Them to Experience Your Product

People love to try before they buy! Giving shoppers a hands-on experience builds trust and connection with your work.

  • Offer samples: Let them test your lotion, taste your chocolate, or smell your candle.

  • Provide try-ons: If you sell accessories or apparel, set up a mirror or small changing area.

  • Encourage engagement: The more interactive your booth feels, the more memorable you become.

These small touches help shoppers connect emotionally—and that’s often what seals the deal.

Step 4: Offer a Range of Price Points

Variety is key. Not every shopper will be ready to invest in your higher-priced items, but a smaller, lower-risk purchase can be a great introduction to your brand.

Try offering:

  • Travel-size versions of your products

  • Mini prints or smaller art pieces

  • Snack-sized or sampler packs

Once they fall in love with your work, they’ll be back for more!

You can also consider a special Jackalope-only discount or a first-time customer offer. A little incentive goes a long way—just make sure to advertise it clearly in your booth and online.

Step 5: Keep in Touch

Don’t let your new fans forget you after the weekend! A newsletter signup is a fantastic way to keep them in the loop about your next event or new product launch. Also encourage them to follow you on social!

Make it fun—offer a small thank-you for signing up:

  • A small discount

  • A raffle entry for a free item

  • A mini sample of your work

These small gestures make people feel valued and connected to your brand long-term.

Step 6: Bring the Good Vibes

Last but definitely not least—your energy matters. A warm smile and approachable attitude can make all the difference. Be attentive, friendly, and genuinely interested in every person who visits your booth.

Even if the day gets long (and we know it can!), try to stay positive and engaged. Shoppers feed off your energy—if you’re enthusiastic about your work, they will be too.

At the end of the day, we can bring the shoppers to you—but you are the one who makes the sale happen. No one knows your product better than you, and your passion is what draws people in.

Here’s to a successful show season full of new fans, meaningful conversations, and plenty of happy customers.
