Meet Brella

Tell us a little about Brella - how did it begin, and what inspired it's mission? Brella began with a simple but powerful idea: child care should work for families, not the other way around.

Our founders saw how rigid traditional child care models were for modern working parents. Families were juggling unpredictable schedules, long waitlists, and limited flexibility.

Brella was created to offer high-quality early education with scheduling designed around real life.

Today, we serve children from 3 months through Pre-K with a play-based, research-backed curriculum and exceptional educators at the heart of everything we do. We believe children thrive in environments where relationships, curiosity, and flexibility come together.

I heard you're going to be offering an activity at Jackalope in April – can you tell us more about that?

We’re so excited to be part of Jackalope.

We’ll be hosting a hands-on spring craft experience designed for little makers. Think creativity, sensory exploration, and a little bit of nature. Families will find us leading a seed-planting station and a playful art activity that celebrates the season.

I'm so excited for this!

What do you love most about Pasadena?

Pasadena has this incredible blend of creativity, history, and community pride.

There’s such a strong support of local businesses, beautiful architecture, and so many family-friendly events throughout the year. We love that it feels vibrant and cultural while still being deeply neighborhood-oriented. You see the same families at parks, coffee shops, and community events, and that sense of connection really matters to us.

What is a fun fact about your team/organization that other's may not expect?

A lot of people are surprised to learn how highly trained our educators are.

Every Brella educator has formal training in early childhood education, and many hold advanced degrees in child development or related fields. We also partner with Stanford’s FIND program, which focuses on strengthening responsive caregiving through research-based coaching.

We’re playful and creative, but we’re also deeply serious about quality and child development.

Where do you hope to see Brella in the next five years?

Our goal is thoughtful growth.

We want to continue expanding to meet the needs of more families while protecting what makes Brella special: strong relationships, beautiful learning environments, and high standards for educators.

We’re committed to opening additional locations in communities that need flexible, high-quality care, and continuing to innovate in early education. Once families enroll at Brella, they have access across our centers, and we hope to extend that flexibility to even more neighborhoods in the years ahead.

Anything special you would like to share?

We’re especially proud to be part of events like Jackalope that celebrate creativity and local makers.

Childhood is about curiosity, exploration, and community. Being able to show up in spaces where families gather outside of school feels really aligned with our mission.

If you stop by our booth, we’d love to say hello.

Catch Brella at Jackalope Pasadena in Central Park on April 25th & 26th!
