Where are you from & how does that affect your work? I grew up with a deep appreciation for coastal living and the sense of peace that comes from being near the ocean. The beaches, sunsets, and natural beauty of both the East and West Coasts inspire every piece we create. At East Coastal Designs, our goal is to bring a little piece of that relaxed coastal lifestyle into people’s homes through functional, handcrafted art.

What is your biggest influence? Nature is our biggest influence. The colors of the ocean, the movement of waves, sandy shorelines, and coastal landscapes inspire our designs. We also draw inspiration from travel, beach communities, and the desire to create meaningful pieces that help people remember their favorite coastal destinations.

What is the hardest part of the creation process?

Working with resin requires patience and precision. Every piece is handcrafted, and factors like temperature, humidity, and curing times can impact the final result. The most challenging part is balancing creativity with the technical aspects of the process while ensuring each piece meets our quality standards.

What's your favorite item that you've created, and why?

One of my favorite pieces we’ve created is our pressed flower resin boards. Each board features real dried flowers that are carefully preserved in resin, creating a beautiful blend of nature and functional art. Many of the olive wood boards we use come from family members in Italy, making them especially meaningful to me. I love that each piece carries a connection to family, craftsmanship, and nature while remaining completely one of a kind.

What do you love most about Santa Barbara? Santa Barbara perfectly captures the coastal lifestyle we love. From its beautiful beaches and ocean views to its vibrant local arts community, it offers a unique blend of relaxation, creativity, and natural beauty that aligns perfectly with our brand.

What is a fun fact about yourself that other may not expect? A fun fact is that I incorporate natural elements into many of my creations, including dried flowers, leaves, and even sand collected from coastal areas. Because I work with these natural materials, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each item captures its own unique patterns, textures, and details, making every East Coastal Designs piece truly one of a kind.
