Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

I was born and raised in Mexico City, and I’ve always been drawn to bold designs and vibrant

colors. The colors, textures, and overall boldness and fearlessness of Mexican aesthetics has influenced all my creative endeavors. In my work, I love contrasting the ornate and delicate nature of fine china with humorous phrases and pop culture icons. I have a deep appreciation for the idea of creating art in unexpected places and mediums.

How did you get your start?

My friend was hosting an artisan pop up at her house. I started exploring the unexpected

combination of funny phrases and beautiful dishware. What started as playful exploration

quickly turned into something people genuinely connected with, and that first pop-up gave me the push to keep going.

What is the hardest part of your creation process?

I genuinely love every part of the creative process. The business side, however, not as much.

Building and creating organizational systems (especially with ADHD) is an ongoing challenge.

Spreadsheets don’t spark any joy.

What’s your favorite item that you’ve created, and why?

manifest plate

It’s hard to pick just one, but my current favorites are the double stacked plates. I attach two plates with complimentary colors and patterns, using the larger one as a frame. I get excited about all the awesome combinations.

What do you love most about Pasadena?

The beautifully maintained Spanish architecture, wandering through The Huntington Gardens, and, of course, hunting for vintage china at the Rose Bowl Flea Market.

What is a fun fact about yourself that others may not expect?

I can write in a mirror image and read backwards/upside down. Is it a useless superpower? A cool party trick? Or just a cool part of being dyslexic? Probably all 3!

polar bears

Woooooooah - now show us! Where do you see yourself in five years?

Girl, I barely know where I am today. Check back in with me tomorrow.

I feel you on every level.

Any advice for someone just starting off on their own?

Make sure your work is authentic to what genuinely brings you joy. It’s much easier to stay inspired when you love what you’re creating.

If you’re just following trends or trying to guess what others might want, you’ll burn out faster. Create what you love - your audience will find you.

Anything special you'd like to share?

I love being part of a community where I’m able to provide smiles and laughter in a world that can feel so heavy these days.
